Rescue boats must start in cold weather, offshore supply vessels must keep standby engines ready to run at full power and diesel electric propulsion systems preheated engines for proper functioning.
The U.S. Coast Guard uses Hotstart® heaters on all their vessels from the smallest harbor patrol boats to their large ice breakers.
The U.S. Navy chose a shock and vibration tested and approved Hotstart® oil circulating system for submarines and combatant surface ships to protect the large, critical engines on board.
The Hotstart® product line includes systems that have been approved by ABS, DNV, Lloyds and Germanischer Lloyd.
Pleasure boats use Hotstart® preheaters to keep main propulsion engines warm when they are tied up. By keeping the engine at operating temperature (100°F or higher), the engine will not emit white smoke on start up.
